Photograph
and Copyright by Jim Stime - 125 gallon reef tank
Common Name - Multicolor Pygmy Angelfish
Scientific name - Centropyge multicolor
Appearance - Body color is divided between upper
area being white and lower half being yellow. Rear dorsal and anal fins are dark
black edged with bright blue. Blue and black patch directly over eye. Size range
between 1 inch and 2 inches.
Location - Specimens are collected from Palau
and Fiji islands.
Comments -
Once past acclimation this fish is very hardy and eats
well. As with all centropyge it will feed on flake foods but will do much better
on a variety of small bite-size frozen foods, such as mysis shrimp. These fish
enjoy having access to hiding places as they are collected from outer reef zones
and drop off areas. Tanks with live or decorative rock are
great. Position the rock openly so as to create many passages.
