Common Name - Venustus Angelfish, Blueback
Angel
Scientific name - Paracentropyge / Sumireyakko
venusta
Appearance - Bright yellow body with
triangular blue mask over the eye and a blue saddle across the upper back.
Bright blue edges on the anal and tail fin. Two to
six inches in length.
Location - From southern Japan to the northern
Philippine islands.
Comments - Difficult. Very shy and select in
its feeding.
In nature these fish are found in caves and deep reef
slopes. Tanks with live or decorative rock are great. Position the rock openly
so as to create many caves. It is suggested that these fish feed primarily on
sponges.
It appears as though this has been reclassified a few
times, from Holacanthus to Centropyge and recently to Sumireyakko.
